Party President to visit Northampton marginal on campaign stop

March 25, 2010 12:00 AM

Liberal Democrat Party President, Baroness Ross Scott, will visit Northampton next month as part of her General Election tour.

Ross, a long-serving Councillor and business leader, will visit the marginal seat of Northampton North on 22nd April.

The visit follows Deputy Leader and Shadow Chancellor's visit on 26th February in advance of polling day, widely expected to be 6th May.

Commenting on the announcement, the party's Parliamentary Candidate for Northampton North, Andrew Simpson, said:

"Ross is an established figure in the party and a well-respected professional on local government, public transport and European issues.

"I look forward to showing her round the town and the constituency. Northampton faces some big challenges in terms of its growth, infrastructure and public services.

"I'm sure Ross will be bring her expertise to bear on these issues and I look forward to discussing them with her."
