Autumn Conference Follow up

Following on from the Party Autumn Conference in Birmingham last month.

The EMLD/New Generation networking reception was successful, with Vince Cable MP discussing the importance of having more BAME individuals coming forward and having a more diverse Parliament. As Chair, I also spoke about the work of EMLD going forward.

The Reaching out! Campaigning with diverse communities training sessions organised at the Autumn Conference was very popular and received positive feedback. It was brilliant seeing so many new members interested in the New Generation work and we would like to send a warm welcome to all our new members.

Leadership Programme update

It was great to see such interest and enthusiasm for the Leadership Programme at the Autumn Conference last month. The programme was successfully launched at the Leader's Reception in Birmingham and so far it has recruited 11 individuals from under represented groups, including New Generation members, Chris Lucas, Yahaya Kiyingi and Waliur Rahman. Congratulations to all of them!

Applications for the Programme have now closed, and a large number of applications have been received. The process of shortlisting and interviewing is now taking place, and we will send more information once the final cohort is recruited.
