Our Team for Europe: Bill Newton Dunn, Deborah Newton-Cook, Ed Maxfield, Denise Hawksworth
At the European elections on June 4th, voters are asked to vote for a political party.
The Liberal Democrat candidates to be your MEP for 2009-2014 are:
Bill has represented Lincolnshire in Europe from 1979-1994 and then the East Midlands from1999 to 2009. He has the best attendance record of all British MEPs. Bill left the Conservatives for the Liberal Democrats because he was concerned by their increasingly negative and isolationist stance.
Born in Lincolnshire, Ed has strong ties with the East Midlands. He works for a charity campaigning for a better deal for disabled people.
Denise lives and works in Chesterfield, where she represents West Ward on the District Council. She has chaired the Scrutiny Board of the Council and works for Paul Holmes MP.
Deborah has worked closely with the leader of the Lib Dem European Parliamentary Party and has many years of experience of European affairs.
David is a Northampton borough councillor and chair of the borough's Audit Committee.
