The speaker at this meeting will be the internationally renowned environmental writer, broadcaster and campaigner Felix Dodds, who is our local party president. He has the ear of US Presidents and the United Nations and his title is "Tackling Climate Change in a Trump and Brexit World". The date: Friday evening 24 November at a prompt 7.30 pm. The venue: The Village Inn, 51 Upper Marehay Road, Marehay, Ripley DE5 8JF. (Their pizzas are excellent.)

This AGM will bring together members from the old, smaller Amber Valley party, members from the part of Mid Derbyshire which is in Amber Valley Borough, and members from the three wards of Derbyshire Dales which are also on the Borough patch. As with any General Meeting, it's members-only, but non-members are welcome to attend on the understanding that they join on arrival. If members from neighbouring local parties are interested they are most welcome too, on a non-voting basis.

This meeting will also have another important job to do. Because the 25 October joint meeting was not fully Quorate, the motions reorganising the local parties need to be Ratified by all the members.

If you have queries about venue, accessibility, food, need a lift or could offer transport to someone else, please get in touch with Kate Smith on 01773 856090 (answerphone 24/7) or at . If you would like to bring a guest, please do also let Kate know. If you would like to book a table for before the meeting, call Phil Barnaville at the Village Inn on 01773 743970.

Miss it, miss out ! Felix looks forward to meeting us all.

"In the same way that banks succeeded at privatizing the profits and socializing the losses as they led the global economy to the brink of collapse, we are in danger of doing the same with the environment. Humanity has taken a huge leap in the last decades and become a planetary-scale force - we need to behave as a global civilization if we are not to face catastrophic consequences."
Felix Dodds

"He is a genius for convincing the most skeptical legislator of the eminent reasonableness of the sustainable development case."
RT Hon JOHN GUMMER MP former UK Secretary of State for the Environment

"Felix has been a passionate campaigner for people's involvement in the central challenges of our time - how to balance our consumption of natural resources with the earth's capacity, at the same time as addressing global inequality and poverty. He has enormously enriched the global intellectual debate on sustainability issues, and has been a "thought leader" of his age."
Dr CRISPIAN OLVER, Former South African Director General Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism

"Felix has been a true global leader, a unique person with the capacity to define global issues, based on an indepth understanding of the concerns and priorities of stakeholders at all levels. Such a breath of vision is rare, and we feel privileged to have been able to work so closely with Felix throughout the Rio+20 processes."
PAULA CABALLERO GOMEZ, Director, Directorate of Economic, Social and Environmental of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Columbia
