Biographic details :
Married with three grownup children, one son and two daughters, Tom and his family live in Derbyshire. Prior to that they lived in Northampton. Tom worked in Northampton and then for a couple of years he worked in Towcester.
Tom was born and grew up in Hartlepool in the North East. Leaving school at 16 he served an apprenticeship as a welder, before going on to study for a degree in Wolverhampton. The first in his family to study for a degree, his B.Sc. in Applied Sciences was followed in 2000 by an MBA from Leicester University. A Chartered Engineer, Tom has spent over 30 years working in industry in a variety of technical and commercial roles, and now works as a procurement manager in the renewable energy sector.
A member of the Liberal Democrats since 2001 , Tom has campaigned for the party and held several local party positions
In his working life Tom has been responsible for managing major commercial contracts as well as leading teams of people.
Value for money in public spending, pensions and combating government waste are central issues for him, as well as democratic accountability, robust public services and protecting the most vulnerable in society. Transport and infrastructure investment are key areas that Tom believes the government should now address to ensure the current economic outlook continues to improve.
